Your organization’s culture is the lifeblood of your organization’s success. No matter how well-defined your organizational strategy may be, if it neglects the people that bring that strategy to life, it is going to fail. Most leaders inherently know this to be true. I’d love a dollar for every time a leader called me and said, “Our culture is getting in the way of our strategy.” Oddly, they choose to pull all the wrong levers to change things. They re-write the values. They give people free food. They re-org. But they fail to look at the things that actually shape the behavior of the organization. And, worse, they fail to look at how their own behavior may be the culprit.
